About shanghai
Shanghai didn’t become a global city by accident. It was a fishing village until the mid-1800s, then exploded after 1842 when it opened as a treaty port. Since then it has been China’s financial gateway and one of the busiest commercial hubs in the world.
The city is famous for:
-
Iconic skyline on the Bund and Pudong (Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Tower)
-
Historic European-style waterfront from its colonial era
-
Fast economic growth, finance, tech, and trade
-
Food scene — soup dumplings (xiaolongbao), hairy crab, street snacks
-
Blending modern skyscrapers with traditional old town and temples
What to do:
-
Walk the Bund at night — the skyline view is the main attraction
-
Visit Yu Garden and Old City God Temple for classical architecture and tea houses
-
Explore Shanghai Museum and the former French Concession
-
Go up Shanghai Tower for city views
-
Take Huangpu River cruise
-
Shop and eat in Nanjing Road, Xintiandi, and local food streets
Shanghai is efficient, busy, and polished — expect energy, scale, and modern China at full speed. Perfect for business, culture, and architecture lovers.

Pudong International Airport (PVG) — main international hub
